The Latest and Greatest?

The iPhone 15 pro max was released on Friday last week and has sold out everywhere! The stunning device boasts a 6.7” OLED display featuring the latest A17 Bionic chip with a 120Hz refresh rate to boot.

It is Apple’s most advanced smartphone yet and it now charges via USB-C 3.0, which allows much faster transfer speeds if sending photos to or from another device. The titanium finish certainly gives the device a premium feel. However, it’s lack of colour options may be off putting for some, only coming in four slightly mundane shades.

The device is also noticeably lighter, mainly due to the change in materials from stainless steel in the iPhone 14 pro max to titanium in this year’s model. The camera quality has also been improved upon, in an attempt to stay competitive with Samsung and their S23 Ultra which was released over 6 months ago now. Whilst improvements have been made in the iPhone camera, such as 5x optical zoom, there are still advantages and disadvantages to both cameras. Furthermore, a durability test was carried out by ‘JerryRigEverything’ on YouTube. In the video, he demonstrates that the sides of the iPhone scratched easily and even more concerningly, when he applied pressure on the phone, the back glass completely shattered. It is worth noting, that there was no case on the phone when he conducted the experiment and that may have changed the outcome. Conclusion: Should you buy it? Honestly, I’d say it depends. If you have any variation of the iPhone 13 or 14, I strongly advise keeping them. Otherwise, if you’re looking for a new phone, I’d say it’s a worthy upgrade!
