Better than a MacBook?

The iPad Pro 12.9-inch 6th generation currently retails at £1249 (Apple, 2023). For the same amount of money, you can get a MacBook Pro with an M2 chip. So, which is better?

The obvious answer is MacBook, right? Packed with the M2 chip, 500 nits of brightness, 8-core CPU and 10-core GPU, it is designed to handle almost anything and the ProMotion display brings movement to life with a 120Hz refresh rate. Featuring a pair of 10 and 12MP cameras on the back and with 20 hours of battery life and a studio quality microphone, it certainly does tick a lot of boxes.

What if I told you the iPad Pro 6th generation offers all this AND more? Additionally, the MacBook Pro features apple’s classic clamshell design, whereas the iPad affords you the choice to use it as a tablet to take notes, with the compatible 2nd generation apple pencil. Additionally, this allows creativity to flourish and designs to be nurtured as ideas can be drawn out or modelled. It can also be used as a makeshift MacBook via attaching the compatible magic keyboard, which also operates as a case to protect the device from damage. You can also adjust the angle at which the screen sits, making it a more comfortable user experience.

Of course, you need to spend more to get the features mentioned above. However, they are optional, meaning you have a choice.

Conclusion: All things considered; I believe the iPad Pro is currently a better buy than the MacBook. The ability to operate the device as both a laptop and a tablet, compiled with easier portability without compromising performance means that you won’t miss out on anything by opting for the iPad.
